VCT TILE FLOOR Day 2

Now this process I did take photos!  1st off buy a good act tile cutter I got mine online for $200. I have layed VCT tile in my home and I used a carpet knife and metal ruler. But I also didn't do an elaborate pattern like this one.

TIP:
Put tile in oven at 200 degrees with the door propped open with a wooded spoon.  I have also heard of using a box with a flood light in it. This job I used mother nature 95 degrees and tile in full sun. Oh my! did the tiles cut like butter.

With this tile cutter you can see how narrow of cuts you can make.
Roberts VCT tile cutter

Here you can see I made a jig so I could mass produce my cuts.
I find that this cutter didn't give me a wide enough base to rest tiles on.
If you are mass producing you want all tiles to be identical!

So there are a few reasons for the smaller pattern.
1. I want the pattern to make trailer look bigger hence smaller pattern.

2. I wanted trailer to look period correct.
The the older asbestus tiles are 9"x9" the ones you can get now are not asbestus and are 12"x12"
trick to figure out if they are asbestus. (Ok I will have to put a note in trailer on floor letting the next person know that theses are not asbestus)

So my cuts will be 3" x 9" and 3"x3".
My 16' trailer used 70 12'x12" tiles But I cut an extra 10% more. Plus I will have extras in case I need to repair floor in the future. Pay attention to the pattern in tile! there is a grain make sure all of 1 color goes the same direction. Well at least for this pattern.

Here you can see how good this thing cuts!
